Wilson E. Gilliam, Jr.
Wilson Gilliam began flying airplanes with his uncle as a small child. At sixteen, he became a licensed fixed wing pilot, earning his Private, Commercial, Instrument and Certified Flight Instructor ratings. Wilson then graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology. During college, he earned his rotorcraft helicopter Commercial, Instrument, Certified Flight Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument and Airline Transport Pilot ratings. He then went on to serve in the Norfolk Police Department for approximately five years, before leaving to pursue full time employment at Chesapeake Bay Helicopters. Wilson, with his mother, Phyllis Kohler and brother, Les Gilliam, started CBH Plus as Chesapeake Bay Helicopters, in 1998.

Phyllis Nelson Kohler, 68, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 9, 2011. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Edward and Mavis Nelson. In 1998, Phyllis became co-owner and President of Chesapeake Bay Helicopters, a business that she founded with her sons on a wing and a prayer. Outside of her business, she enjoyed her Bible study class and her newly landscaped rose garden. She was heavily involved with charity work, including the Currituck Animal Lovers Assistance League. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
